In the 1970s enlistees were promised that after 180 days (6 months) of service they would be receive full medical care and full pharmacy benefits. In the 80s two Congresses changed the rules to allow only those who had service connected disability to be treated without charge. All others were charged a co-pay and per prescription charge based on assetts. Getting the government to admit to service connected disability is near impossible even in clear cases. Remember Agent Orange? They bet that the long fight to gain service connection will wear most people out to the point of giving up. And if you want to restart a case, they don't go back to the point where it was left. They start all over.

It isn't only the healthcare that they are trying to take. There is a hugh land grab being waged in Los Angeles for veterans land, some of which was granted in perpetuity by a family. Senator Diane Feinstein is one of the players. The same senator who funneled plum veterans contracts to her contrator husband and their friends. Several million dollars worth, yet there were no hearings, no screaming for her head. Just a quiet removal as chair of the committee.

Want to know about the government? Ask a veteran.

Deborah LeighAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
