Also, it was the fashion in the 80s to "downsize" to maximize profits (I suppose you could call that a symptom of hubris). Whatever, Nemesis came along and showed them what's what, and today that manufacturer (what's left of it, but once the largest glass manufacturer in the world) is a minor subsidiary of another company.
