And this is not a finger, Mr. President...

"I absolutely reject that notion" that it's a tax increase." -- Barack Obama

If I get in my car to drive to the liquor store, and I stop to top up the tank, the government charges me a percentage for the privilege of buying my gasoline. This is a tax, by law.

If I walk into the liquor store, and grab a pack of Luckies, the government charges me a percentage for the privilege of sucking down tar and nicotine. This is a tax, by law.

If I grab a jug of sangria, the government charges me a percentage for the privilege of guzzling cheap wine cut with artificial fruit juice. This is a tax, by law.

If I want to buy insurance against the cancer and cirrhosis I'm setting myself up for, the government charges me a percentage for the privilege of buying my health care anywhere I choose. This is a tax, by law. Specifically, page 29 of the Baucus Bill.

Reading is fundamental, sir.

I am also a racist, because your post makes perfect sense to me. I will turn myself in to the Thought Police first thing tomorrow.

For some reason I am reminded of an episode of The Cosby Show. "This is not a doughnut."

First there was ebonics, defined as a poor excuse for a failure to grasp the basics of english. Now there is Obamics, taking the English language and turning it on its head. Example, a lie is not a lie if The One tells it.

It's really simple: It's not a tax because the focus groups say people react negatively to the word 'tax'. So that just isn't what it is. Obama is a pitch-perfect deliverer of poll focused nonsense. No more.

Yes Mr. President, and I absolutely reject the notion that you have an IQ higher than room temperature on the Fahrenheit scale.

Supporters of "national health care" will be singing a different tune when they start GETTING THE MONTHLY BILL for their "free" health care insurance. Have you ever heard any Congressman or Obama say, even roughly, what the monthly premiums will be? $250, $300, $400 a month? I think a lot of health care reform supporters actually think it will be free. I know! For millions of people it will be free. The working poor will have to subsidize them. Has anyone bothered to tell us where they draw the "poverty" line - the amount that would qualify a person for free coverage.

yawn. racist.

Oh they won't send a bill to the working poor (They wouldn't have the funds to pay it anyway-waste of paper) They will just add another line on that handy-dandy Federal Withholding form and Whoosh! as if by magic, the funds will miraculously disappear from everyone's net pay. Convienence itself!

This post is proof that you're a genius, richard. Snark beyond snark but backed up to the rafters with SENSE!!!

I think it's what I love most about you.

Hmmm.

So a 'sales tax' is actually a 'sales fine'??
