No explanation has been offered of how the IRG, which trains, deploys and supports suicide bombers in Iraq and elsewhere, could have been unprepared for an attack of this nature.

Meanwhile, conflicting explanations of the absence of Ayatollah Khameini are being floated by various elements within the Iranian government, as rumors of his death continue to circulate. Parallels with the death of Khomeini continue to mount.
