Deborah Leigh said...True, edutcher, very true. Also, there was a time when the schools were places of education, not indoctrination. Universities were for the free exchange of ideas, not the training ground for revolutionaries. Our culture was celebrated, not painted out with the broad brush strokes of diversity. There was a time when the country was unified by a common language...english. We cherished the flag and children were honored to be allowed the priviledge of putting it up in the morning at their school. There was a time when everyone knew the words to the National Anthem, and stood proudly with their hand placed over their heart and sang. They did similarily for the Pledge of Allegiance. People came to this country, not for the public dole, but for the opportunity to prosper. They knew nothing but the opportunity was promised, but that in itself, was far better than the place they left.
Sigh.
