Think You Know How World War II Ended? Think Again....

Accepted for inclusion in the National Archives!

"50 Days of War and Peace or Why Harry Dropped the Atomic Bomb! is a two volume book.

"Between the moment the atomic bomb was tested on July 16, 1945 (Chapter 1) and the peaceful mass surrender of the 2,500,000 Japanese military servicemen on outlying Pacific Islands on September 3, 1945 (Chapter 50), tens of thousands of people were being killed. Japanese military officers were constantly debating heatedly about surrendering or fighting until the last Japanese died. Each day (50 days-50 chapters) there were constant meetings, and many of them included the presence of Emperor Hirohito. The confrontations are detailed each day, and they led to the killing of a Japanese general and a lieutenant colonel on the Palace grounds by other Japanese officers during the coup d'etat attempt.

"Every Battle report and secret intercept discloses the intensity of the air, land, and sea battle each day. They reveal what every combatant nation knew; what they thought they knew; and what they did not know! More than 20,000 Japanese soldiers were killed in Burma during the last 11 weeks, and the location of the individual military units and their commanders are identified in the South-East Asia Command Battle Reports of Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten. Scores of battles continued daily throughout China, including the beginnings of the Chinese civil, the Viet Nam, and the Korean Wars. The invasion of Manchuria on August 9, 1945, is followed each day as 1,000,000 Russians stormed from the West, North, and East to occupy the Manchurian territory and take over 1,000,000 Japanese soldiers and civilians as prisoners.

"Detailed are all the naval battles in which the American and British ships were participating when they were crashed by the Kamikazes. The damage and sinking, the sailors who were killed or wounded, and the activities of more than 1,630 ships are revealed from documents released by the archives of the United States Navy. The complete naval battle of Leyte Gulf is detailed ship by ship and shot by shot, and identified are each of the heroic smaller ships who won. The tragic sinking of CA Indianapolis after she delivered the atomic bomb at Tinian. Fly with the planes who were on regular missions, and become aware of the internal activities before and during the dropping of the two atomic bombs by two different B-29's.

"Revealed are the minutes of meetings conducted by President Harry Truman which involve the decision to drop the bomb and the subsequent orders to make the drop after Truman left Potsdam. There are more than 1,730 persons in this book, and there are scores of stories about them- some tragic, some humorous, but always interesting. All the activities of the communist spies are revealed from their confessions.

"An enlightening research section of 60 pages is FOR YOUR INFORMATION which explains to the reader the difference between military ranks; types of warships and planes; abbreviations used; location of 2,500 cities, towns, and villages in the book; the activities and positions held by the 1,730 persons; and, a great deal of other information.

"About the Author: Dr. Edgar Leo Anderson, Ph.D. served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is the son of Sgt. Gerald Anderson who served in World War II in the U.S. Army. His son, Sgt. Gerald Anderson, served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War."

Worm finds someplace new to crawl...

"On your knees before me, little man! We couldn't humble real
democrats like Roosevelt or Truman, but you-- piece of rice cake!"

If any of you remember the funny My Favorite Year, there is a wonderful scene where Mark Lynn-Baker, playing a young Mel Brooks working on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, takes Peter O'Toole, playing a drunken and over the hill Eroll Flynn, to his parents' home in Brooklyn. Naturally the neighbors freak out, including one woman from upstairs. Desperate to impress O'Toole with her sophistication, she shows up for supper in the fanciest dress she has -- her wedding gown.

Barack Obama owns that wedding gown. He is frantic to show the world what a sharp operator he is, but succeeds only in demonstrating again and again that he peaked at gauche nebbish.

Still, he's probably used to that position from all the time he's spent shining Rahm Emanuel's shoes...

Love-struck little man acting out...

...but Obama still won't take his calls. From Itai News, Japan:

"North Korean rhetoric has reached a new crescendo of violence, with their latest threats being to wipe out a third of Japan’s population in a stroke if Japan “attacks” the wretched slave nation:

“If Japan wages another war of conquest, their whole land will be subject to our retaliatory strike! Japan’s major cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya and Kyoto are home to over a third of Japan’s population, and house most of its industry.

Should we launch our powerful counterattack, Japan will become a scene of carnage!”
The remarks were published in the “Rodong Sinmun”, or Newspaper of the Workers, which is generally taken to be an official mouthpiece of North Korea’s government, and are thought to be in response to strands of the LDP which would like to see Japan possess the ability to deal with threats to its security before they crystallise into actual aggressive action.

These calls have themselves been provoked chiefly by North Korea repeatedly menacing Japan with its growing missile arsenal.

2ch is less than impressed:
“It’s a declaration of war!”
“Lucky I live in Gifu. Phew…”
“This little yakuza country is cooking up fights with all kinds of countries. Doesn’t it understand its own position yet?”
“Even if it lost a third of its population, Japan is still vastly stronger, right?”
“With a Hiroshima type blast in Tokyo, most government would cease.”
“Even so, the SDF and American armies would be unaffected. They could still crush North Korea on their own…”
“Why don’t we ask the Zainichi Koreans about this? If you keep sending them remittances and support their games, all you get back is a missile strike. It is splendid to be willing to die for the great general, is it not?”
“Why don’t they try ‘reducing Seoul to a sea of fire’ first?”
“So the Zainichi are no good as hostages then? What a pity their motherland has abandoned them so…”
“Try shooting one into Akihabara, the world’s otaku will turn on you!”
“Talk is cheap. Why don’t you try firing them?”
“Even if Japan becomes a scene of carnage, it can be rebuilt. But North Korea will be wiped from the face of the earth.”
“It would take them days to fuel that many missiles. In the mean time, North Korea would be reduced to ashes.”
“Finally we’ll be able to build Neo-Tokyo…”
“Weak dogs howl the loudest, don’t they? But we’re running out of patience. Anymore idle chatter and they should be annihilated. Hurry up and change the Constitution already…”
“This is great. Soon public opinion will favour Japan having nuclear weapons…”
“What’s up with this crazy country, it sounds like 2ch…”

Bellicose threats from North Korea have been one of the major arguments used in favour of eliminating Article Nine of Japan’s US imposed Constitution, which heavily restricts Japan’s ability to defend itself. North Korea seem to be their own worst enemy in most respects…
