According to Ann Althouse: the state's biggest civil service employee union isn't even going to try to get recertified. The union "leadership" can't even guarantee 51% of its membership will vote for them, they say.

The Wisconsin teachers' union has already had to fire their entire political action staff, because their members are holding back their once-mandatory "donations."

As the old saying goes, "Everything that isn't mandatory is forbidden."  The unspoken corollary to that, of course, is, "but as soon as it isn't mandatory, get out of the way!"

Recertification is a necessity for a union to continue negotiating on behalf of its membership.

So, little Jimmy Hoffa and his rentacrowd to the contrary, it looks like, given the chance, the only people the rank and file will be "taking out" will be their Democrat-puppet union bosses....

How many union pension funds would $30,000,000 have helped underwrite?  How many new teachers with no seniority would that have kept from being laid off?  How many healthcare workers would that have kept on the job?

Seriously, the entire labor movement of the United Freaking States focused its wrath upon one state and six Republican state senators... and the people of Wisconsin looked at all the money being spent, looked at all the screaming marchers, looked at what their state government had been hiring, looked at the goons harassing vote canvassers, and said, "Yyyyyeah... no."

And next week they're going to repeat themselves to make sure they're heard.  This was a calamitous failure of the corrupt union movement in America, and an axeblow to the the very conjunction of the obscene Democrat/union axis.

Make a note of this, candidates: the union bosses cannot deliver for you anymore.  But make all the promises you want, spend all the money you want proving it.  It's fun to watch.

Had my tickets reserved to go see Sarah Palin's The Undefeated down in Orange tonight.  Bought and paid for, alternative routes worked out around the dreaded Carmageddon, everything scheduled.

Then the car erupts! Smoke, scary noises, ominous oozings, engine temp thru the roof... hadda have it towed the shop...

The funny thing, the funny, sinister, suspicious thing is, this isn't the first time this has happened.  When Deborah Leigh and I were headed down to Orange County to catch Sarah Palin's big rally down there...



Our car blew out on us then, too.

What did those two cars have in common?  CLEARLY, since they were both built by GM and the UAW, the only POSSIBLE explanation is that there is a massive secret conspiracy by the Obama Administration and its corrupt union lackeys to keep Deborah Leigh and I from attending Sarah Palin events.  For that matter, the timing of the so-called "Carmaggedon" also suggest the damned LA Democrats may be in on it as well.  Wouldn't put it past the tofu-snortin' bastiches.
Or, in the greater scheme, this could all be part of an ongoing Democratic plan to block all contact between Orange County and Los Angeles Republicans...

BUT WE WILL NOT BE THWARTED!  We got to that Sarah Palin rally then and we'll rent us a nice patriotic Jap beater and get to the movie tonight!  See y'all there....!

Three Beers Later Self-Strike Turns Ugly!

The labor conflict at Three Beers Later! took a grim turn when I crossed my own picket line, established in solidarity with the oppressed unpaid bloggers of the Huffington Post, to publish this weekend's Rule 5 material.  Not owning a car, I was obliged to key my cat Potluck in retaliation.

Having dressed my many bloody injuries, I have come to the conclusion that I need to be more tolerant of labor's right to self-expression, and will be more respectful of my picket line in the future.

In a carefully planned speech of bipartisan outreach, Obama called on the GOP and Tea Party to stop provoking hardworking Democratic politicians and unions members  into attacking and threatening to kill them.

"And tell those sluts in the Wisconsin massage parlors to start dressing more modestly!" the tough-talking, inspirational leader of the free world said.  "We need all the Democratic State Assemblymen we've got!"

An Open Letter to Governor Walker

I cannot urge you strongly enough to resist the urge to offer or accept any sort of 'compromise' with the absconding Democrats on the unions or any other issue.  It would be the equivalent of offering a 'compromise' to a thug holding hostages in a robbed liquor store.  The only viable response to their conduct is uncompromising resistance.

What happens in Wisconsin will set the tone for political relations in the states and between the states and DC for years to come.  Please stand strong, for your citizens, your party and your country.
