If NASA's Falling Satellite Had Hit Los Angeles...

If it had landed in Beverly Hills, it would have been towed...

If it had landed in MacArthur Park, it would have got a fake green card and driver's license...

If it had landed in South Central or East LA, it would have have at least four sets of gang sign tagged, and at least two bodies in the trunk...

If it had landed in Bel Air it would have received a restraining order...

If it landed in the Valley, it would have received a whiny letter from the Homeowner's Association...

If it had landed in Dodger Stadium it would have received a brutal beating...

If it had landed in Santa Monica Greenpeace would have picketed it.

If it had landed in West Hollywood, some nancy would have called it a whore.

If it had landed in Burbank it would have received a citation for violating the noise-abatement laws.

If it had landed in Antelope Valley, it would be up on blocks in front of some skinhead's bungalow.

Lucky for it, it missed.

More California Brilliance! Can't Buy Safe Ammo!

OK, so I was looking to stock up on some range ammo for Civility for shooting this weekend, because LA has a ban on selling ammo over the 4th of July holiday, apparently on the grounds that idiots who are going to shoot their guns off to celebrate don't already have a trunk or closet full.

Turns out you can't find low-power range ammo in LA.  I shoot indoors locally, so I need full-jacketed standard pressure .44 Special or Magnum loads.  None to be had.  I can get full bore .44 "Harry Callahan is a Pussy" hollowpoints, but the lower-powered, lower-velocity rounds that are actually safer... none to be had.

What do I shoot for my house load?  Shut up, he explained...

Attention, Taxpayers: Los Angeles Is Closed...

Mayor Villaraigosa calls for city employees to take up to 26 unpaid vacation days to help cope with Los Angeles' financial crisis.

Taxpayers will not be given a day off.

Exacerbating the crisis, the State government in Sacramento has begun seizing back billions of dollars paid out to local governments out of the tobacco companies' 'Rob Reiner' deal, to help forestall the state's own financial collapse, causing further financial strain for counties and municipalities.

Richard Alarcon, wife, face 24 counts between them.

And Hey! Guess the Party...!  I mean, you pretty much have to because AP doesn't mention it.  But let's just say there are more than the two indicted asses involved...
