AMERICA'S $1.2 TRILLION DOLLAR HOSTAGE

Lost in all the noise about 999 plans and 50 Points plans and Sigmas and whatever other is a fact that no one seems to be talking about:

$1.2 TRILLION in US corporate assets are currently being held in foreign banks.  You know, those foreign banks that are about to start popping like a string of firecrackers.

These are cash assets US corporations have left overseas because of the US's extortionate taxes if they are brought back into the country.

If the US companies tried to pull them out now it would probably begin the collapse.  It may not even be possible to pull them out in time, with the European economy's future being measured in weeks if not days by many analysts.

If the US companies did bring the cash back now, they would take a 1/3 hit in the assets.  That would be enough to push a lot of institutions under.

If they don't bring it back, it all goes away when, not if, the Eurobanks collapse.

So all the fancy plans you hear about.  Forget them.  They're obsolete already.

What we need in a leader is not a PowerPoint presentation, but the character and values to stand up and face the coming crisis.

North Carolina Governor Bev Purdue  (D- No Kidding?) has called for suspending elections so Congress can work on the nation's problems without constant interruptions by those pesky voters.

You know, the problems those politicians have been so busy causing in the first place as they loot this country like the Visigoths looted Rome...

Although the governor's press monkey later claimed the governor was joking, even though she called for her audience to join her in demanding it, I think she might actually have been onto something.

Bev is a politician AND one of our problems.  Let's suspend her.  Here's a handy tree...

A thought for the year ahead...

We are poised on the brink of a major change in government.

Our leaders currently in power are entertaining themselves with clowns on our dollar and standing to applaud our enemies at the heart of our Republic while the troubles of our country go unaddressed; our leaders poised to resume power, by our sweat and sacrifice, seem uncertain whether they want to behave any differently, or instead spend their resources taking care of their dwindling circle of peers at the expense of the people.

Our wounded and weakened, ignorant, vain, insular, narcissistic and unready President faces a year without the support of his party, an agenda at odds with both reality and the needs of his country, and no tactic to deal with it save reinforcing failure.

Our intellectual and artistic icons are digging themselves deeper into a more extreme and irrelevant ideological pit, becoming shriller and angrier as they realize the mudfooted commoners are not only no longer listening, but mocking them, and finding other voices both new and old to listen to.

Factions and groups that have grown rich at our expense refuse to realize the purse is empty, and demand that last penny that has to be in there somewhere.

And all the while our country's wounds, self-inflicted and inflicted by others, lay open.

It's going to be an interesting year.  It will probably, a lot of the time, be a scary and ugly one.

So I offer a thought, from a man who had seen times even worse than these:

Give me, my God, what you still have;
give me what no one asks for,
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.

Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,
my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

States petition Eric Holder and DOJ to interfere with troops' votes!

Twelve states have applied for waivers from protecting military voters in the 2010 election: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Wisconsin, Colorado, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska, and the District of Columbia.

The current legislation requires the states to ship ballots to the troops at least 45 days prior to the election to ensure they are received and counted.  In the last Presidential election at least 17,000 GI votes were never tallied because they were not received timely.  The Pentagon is authorized to grant such waivers but is obviously reluctant to, so these states (Alaska, what the HELL are you doing running with these dirtbags?) are petitioning DOJ to somehow intervene.

This is horsecrap from a particularly sick and runny horse.  I volunteer with Operation Gratitude, and they can get a package from the US to any soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan within a week, and these state governments can't mail a ballot?  They can't be returned timely?

Here's a wild idea: count the fricking ballots at the fricking embassies.  Even the State Department can work a damned e-mail.   Then send the hardcopies along for validation at your leisure.  This is nothing but a blatant attempt by "blue" states to eliminate what they fear will be "red" ballots from their elections.

A bad night for Barry...

"Holy S***! Look at all the F***in' Indians!"

I'd have hidden in my room and watched TV, too.

New Jersey -- Republican governor, in spite of everything Obama and SEIU could do to save it for Corzine... and by a higher margin than the Republicans took the office in 1993.

Virginia -- Republican, from the Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General, and on down deep into the political structure of the state... and by a higher margin than Republicans took the office in 1993.

New York -- The GOP powerbrokers in the state and the NRCC humiliated by a spontaneous uprising of the base and the defection of their own million-dollar handpicked candidate (OUR million dollars, Republican voters) to the opposition party. Slow Joe Biden couldn't even fill a hall.

This was a good night for conservatives, GOP or independent. We won, against the Obama machine and the ineptitude and corruption of our own leadership. We won, because the voters heard the Democrat message and ours and chose ours.
